Hi Damita Shaw,
I heard of you, through Mrs. Wydean Greer. Mrs. Greer and I are coworkers. I bought one of your books from her to put on the self for my children in the future. My children were still quite young when I purchased it. She suggested I contact you, because I am looking for a Black History Play that can be performed by grade school children. Maybe you know someone who may know someone.
Thank You In Advance

Damita,
Excellent book! I give it 4 stars! It motivates woman, girls, men and boys to use protection I hope. We already have too many teen pregancies, because we have quite a few at my school and I'm in high school. For me it's too early to have a baby and be somebody's mama. Some girls don't think about it before they lay down,
because before they can drive they'll be playing
"mama". That will be the end to their club hopping days not that they ever started!

Can Broken Wings Still Fly? Yeah, . . . . . THEY CAN FLY! Bad choices are inevitable. Teenagers have their fair share. Some teens more than others. The question then becomes, "How are they going to deal with the consequences of their bad choices? Are the destined to repeat the same mistakes?" Damita Shaw, in her book, Can Broken Wings Still Fly, allows us to witness not only what happens to teens when they indulge in actions beyond their years of wisdom, but what happens when teens rally together in genuine friendship/love and challenge one another to rise above their circumstances, bad choices . . . and FLY. I gave the book to a number of my friends who have children that are teenagers or approaching teenage-hood. They used it as a tool to dialogue with their children about marriage and family, pregnancy, sex, HIV/AIDs, bad choices, good choices. Thanks Damita, for reminding us in a very blatant way to spend time with our children.

Damita, I just remembered that I hadn't expressed to you in
writing how I feel about this book. Well-all I can say is-- IT IS SUPER GIRL! THE BEST! GREAT!
We've talked so much about it--and I've listened and learned a lot from you. So,
I want to take this opportunity to say--I am so proud of you. Even though I've only known you
for maybe 3 years now, you have become the sister that I have never had and that I look up to.
I know that your future will be a bright, profitable and rewarding, because you have the
God given talent and the desire to "keep on pushing on."
I am working on myself to instill in me some of your given
talents and as I work towards this goal, I know that you are a
friend/sister that will be there for me. I hope you know that I will always
be there for you--May God continue to Bless You--as it is through
Him -- you are able to do all things! Because of you--I too know
that "Broken Wings Can Fly."
Love ya,
Pammy

What an eye opener!!! Damita you really hit a home run with your book. I really enjoyed reading..the story was real...so refreshing...what a learning experience. I was so thrilled with your book that I purchased copies for all of my family's kid and yes they are reading :) My one of my neices loved the book so much that she did her school project on your book..She shared with the class what she learned out of the book and she said the book saved her life because she was thinking about sex and now she has a better understanding. Thanks so much Damita for your wonderful book.

Hi Damita,
I just wanted to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed reading your book. I really learned a lot. This is really an excellent piece of work and you have to keep pushing this book because it is relevant and very, very necessary; seriously. It may seem slow right now, but I promise you it is going to pick up. God has anoited you and your book and you have a powerful message. Don't be discouraged by anything or anyone. If your friends don't purchase your book, believe me, their are plenty of people out there that would love to have this read in their collection. That is why I say you have to push it. You have to drive this and put it out there as much as you can and any way you can. Someone famous is going to get wind of it and the sky will be the limit. Being that I know you, I know you are passionate and sincere about your message and money is not your motivation. Keep God first and keep on keepin' on sister. I give you my word that I am going to do whatever I can to help you get it out there. Be strong and keep the faith and God will take you there. Much love...Timothy A. Stroud

Can Broken Wings Still Fly is a must read for teenagers and adults alike. It conveys an "old time" (Ole Folk Wisdom) ethic with modern day issues in a world where such virtues are not being taught anymore. It was so moving to me I am in the process of coordinating a "Youth Rally" with Damita as keynote Speaker. "Youth Rally" info can be found at www.angelfire.com/poetry/ourworldpoetry262.
